Hello I'm new here. Just wanted to say hello, and see whats going on.
I just moved here last year and I'm looking to get back into racing again. I'm running a HPI WR8. Might pick up another R/C when I come visit the shop so I can race. Do you run the wr8 in any class, off road and or on road?
Thanks

Hey Reaper. I just joined also. I'm going down to check out the track this week. Ive been building a savage for bashing for the past few weeks. Looks like I will sell that when done and buy something for racing. Im also curious to see what the biggest classes are down there and buy something specifically for the class I wanna run. The slash class was always a blast and cheap to compete.

Looks like they are open tomorrow, with open practice. I don't know what " open practice " all includes but I'm going to bring my WR8 in hopes that I'll get to take a few laps with it, on one of the tracks. lol I also just picked up a HPI Sprint2 Flux. I hope that one of the two cars will work in one of the classes. I had a savage 2wd I loved it. Those trucks take a beating and keep going.

Welcome!!
I don't think anyone is running a Rally car at the track (I've never seen one), though I could be wrong. It doesn't matter, if you come to race, we'll find somewhere for you to race!
As far as the popular classes go: Off-road - 2WD Short Course Stock always has people racing, 4WD Short Course Mod usually has a few as well. 2WD buggy always will have people. The rest of the classes will depend on who shows up and what they're racing. Sportsman might have a few, 1/8 buggy might have a couple. On race day 2WD SCT, 4WD SCT and 2WD buggy are a guarantee.
On-road: 17.5 GT is the biggest thing at the studio right now. VTA seems to be very popular, Mini has a couple of people racing. Again, it all depends on who shows up.
I haven't been to a Carpet Oval race in months, so I couldn't tell you what's hot there.

Just to let you guys know: Jeff has recently dropped the news that he is thinking of moving the Studio to a new location. I was told if this does happen that both on-road and off-road tracks will be indoors. The biggest change from all this is that the off-road track will be carpeted. Just a heads-up.

I stopped by the track today and was able to take a few laps. Looks like I'll be in the market for a short course truck soon. I didn't remember to ask Jeff though, does he deal with HPI? If so I'll order my next R/c from him. My stock wheels on the WR8 are more for on road at the moment. It was like being on Ice. I didn't even do 2 laps. I did more laps on the carpet tack. (My mistake for not checking first) Major fail on my part. I didn't know that was not allowed. I must say sorry again for doing so. Next time I'll bring my HPI sprint2 flux for the carpet track and pick up a set of the proper tires.
So if the track/shop moves the off road will be carpet as well... I can see how that may work but, doesn't that take away from it being "off-road"? When I would run my Baja 5t, and 2wd Slash at the track in MI. I liked being able to slide around corners. I don't see that working out so much with carpeted off-road setup. Don't get me wrong carpeted or not, I'm down for any type of racing.
I'm sure my R/c collection is going to grow fast now that there is a local shop/track I can go to.
Thanks again to Jeff for showing me around the shop and letting me run my car for a while.
